The hull of Sonabia 2 is thick, stiff and impact-resistant.

Made of multiple layers, alternating insulating foam, fiberglass and playwood, its thickness is comprised between 60mm underwater and 45mm at the deck level.

Is is covered by a shell of fiberglass-epoxy, a resin that stands the cold and does not suffer from the cuts and scratches caused by ice.

Its composition was determined after many destructive tests.
