Sonabia 2 has a steel keel dagger-like, i.e. the keel can be lifted vertically. The bulb is wing-shaped, large and made of massive steel for maximal robustness. Few risks for the keel to bend or to remain blocked.
The keel weights 3.4 tonnes, and the draft is 2,90m. This stabilizes the boat in big waves.
When the keel is up, the draft becomes 1.40m, which allows to pass through shallow waters and come close to the shore.
Another advantage of the vertical lifting keel: the boat stops immediately when hitting an underwater obstacle and does not mount over it. and does not climb over it. This allows to free it easily in case of stranding.
