Sonabia 2 is equipped with 3 lifting rudders.

In case of violent shock, the rudders lift alone. In case of breakage, it is possible to sail with a single rudder.

At anchor, the rudders are systematically lifted, in order to prevent the floating ice to break or bend them.

The rudders are made of laminated wood (epicea), reinforced with fiberglass. Easy to repair, easy to replace.

Under sail: 2  lateral rudders

Under engine or in the ice: central rudder
